With great sadness, we recently learned of the passing of our friend, Dan Schulz. Dan passed away at his home on the 9th of November, 2009. This site is dedicated to the memory of Dan, so that his contribution to the Web community can be remembered forever. We'd like to offer our sincere condolences and support to Dan's family in this time of sorrow.
Dan was a Web developer and consultant from Aurora, Illinois. He was an enthusiastic and well-respected member of many communities, including the SitePoint, SEO.com, WPTavern, and DigitalPoint forums.
Dan was one of those unique individuals who treasured being able to help others, and the outpouring of emotion and support that arose after his passing are a testament to just how much he was loved and valued wherever he went.
Dan, we'll miss you.
The passing of a family member is a challenging time, both emotionally and financially. In the case of Dan's family, this is especially difficult, as his mother had also recently passed earlier in 2009.
Dan was always so generous with his time, and now it's your chance to say thank you. If you can spare it, we'd like to encourage you to donate money to Dan's family using this PayPal Donation page. It's fast, secure, and goes directly to Dan's family.
Dan touched many lives around the Web. Here are just some of the things people said.
Such sad news. Dan was a wonderful guy and I am glad that I had the chance to cross paths with him even if it only was online. He will be missed by me personally and all the rest of the staff at the SEO.com forum. Buffalo
The guy knew his stuff and it's a huge loss to this community. Obviously, the bigger loss is to his closer friends and family, and I will keep them in my prayers over the next few weeks as they go through a very trying time. PHPGator
I'd say there would be few members in this community that haven't come across Dan at some point. He was one of those unique individuals who treasured being able to help others, and I'm sure made all of us better people in some way. ShayneTilley

RIP Dan, you were a great guy and will be remembered fondly. Andrew Kowalski
I am sad that he isn't around us to continue helping us all and lighting up our lives with his witty remarks, and I am shocked that he left us so suddenly, but I know he's out there somewhere learning something new to teach. He is a natural born teacher - a person that can soak up knowledge and then impart it to others in a most understandable manner. He is gifted that way. uberhost

Sad news indeed. I had the opportunity to sit next to Dan at WordCamp Chicago earlier this year as he sat with the WebDevStudios crew. I had no idea who Dan was at the time but I noticed he seemed very passionate at what he did. Was also a friendly guy to chat with. Despite a lot of people never getting the chance to meet the guy in person, he has touched a few lives in his day. Jeffro
